Tues, Jan 31, 1961

Up at 8.45 and Tillie at 9.30.  After breakfast we went to the laundry then went to Kwik Check and shopped.
Hung out laundry and then went for a swim.  Water 65°, the coldest I have seen it since we got down here.  The air 72°. 
Painted trim on house in afternoon.  Nice today with East winds.  Sunny during day, partly cloudy in morning. 
Ed was over here in afternoon and had a glass of beer with us.
In Eve. watched T.V. to bed at 10.00.  Beautiful moonlight night.
Had many painful twinges today all on the left side of my face.

Up at 8.30 and had my breakfast.  Tillie up at 9.15.  Sunny, windy and cool.  Watered Lawn and back.  Began digging for sewer.
Wrote to Dick and watched “Americans” in Eve.  After Egg and apple supper.  Clear cool moonlight evening.
Pains in my head off and on all day.

Up at 7.45 and had heater going for 40 minutes.  Cloudy and very windy.
Tillie up at 9.15.  Oranges, apple and cheese & coffee.
Read paper and had lunch.  Wrote to Frances Parker.
Took a ride down to the ocean, but it wasn’t rough.  A few sprinkles.  Sun came out later.  We took a ride to Hilda Lindens.  Helga Halling, a friend of Hilda’s is staying with her. 
Had coffee there.  Got home at 6.30.
Watched T.V. while Eating supper.  Then watched T.V. channel 12.
I’ve felt those pains quite a lot today.  Even licking my lips I felt needle like pains going up to the forehead.
Full moon tonight, with scattered clouds.

Up at 8.45 and turned heat on.  Had oranges (4) half and apple and coffee and cheese for breakfast.  Tillie up at 9.30.  A cool, sunny morning.
Had the laundry done while I went to Food Fair.  Home and hung them out.  Trimmed trees.  Had sandwiches for lunch.  Only 68° at 1.00.
Began painting patio trim.  At 7.30 Collangis picked us up and we went to Mollineaux and played canasta.  The women won.
Had small crackers & cheese Angel Cake and Strawberries on ice cream.  Talked quite a lot about politics and different things.  Home at 12.30.

Up at 6.45 and had my breakfast and read paper.  Tillie up at 8.30. 
Went shopping at 10.30.  Then back and lunch.
Sanded patio.  Laid 2 flagstones.  Cloudy all day and raw.  Hosed garden, raked lawn.  Watched T.V. after supper. 
To bed at 11.00.  Lovely clear moonlight night.
Wrote a few letters today.

Up at 8.00 and shaved and I said grace in Swedish again.  Had an orange, puffed rice, toast and jam and coffee for breakfast.  Then took a ride out to the cape.  A beautiful day.  Warm and clear and sunny.
Had our lunch of hamburgers sitting in the yard.  At 1.05 Tillie took the wheel and we were off.  Sunny and nice.  At Vero Beach, I took the wheel and in Ft. Pierce the rear left tire blew.  It was right in front of a gas station so they changed it for me.
Then on to the Vachon Groves and bought some oranges.  Then home.  Had oranges, apple, cheese and coffee for supper.  Had a lot of mail.


Wed, Jan 25, 1961

Up at 8.00 and shaved and had breakfast when Tillie got up.  Said grace in Swedish.  Then took a ride out towards the missile base.  Eat our lunch while sitting in the car on the causeway.  Took a walk along the shore and found a 7 ft. shark washed up.  Back to the house and played “Samba” till supper. And later on Samba again till 11.00.
It’s been overcast and rain all day around 60°.  But we had a nice time.  Didn’t sleep so good, as I’d Eat too much and hadn’t done Enough walking.

Up at 6.00 and got ready.  Had breakfast and started off at 8.00 and went up route 1 to Titusville and arrived at O’Connells at 11.40 – 145 miles.  We bought ¼ bushel oranges for the O’Connells.  Had a nice lunch then sat around for a while, took a ride around to see new housing development.
Back to the house and showed our slides and later on they showed theirs.
Had a turkey supper and we slept fine that night.  I didn’t get up once during night.

Up at 8.45 and got oranges and coffee ready, then read paper.
Cut off two branches on Dixies Poinciana tree.
Dixie came over here and had coffee with us.  I had a beer.
Sun is shining and very little wind.  North wind.
50° at 9.00 and 70° by noon.  Laid stones in back.
Kept fire going and at 6.00 the pile of wood in back caught fire so we turned the hose on it and put it out.
Watched the “Americans” in Eve. on T.V.  Tillie made banana bread to day and gave half of it to Jim DiCicco.

Cold.  Turned heat on at 7.05 and went back to bed and got up at 9.05 and had breakfast and read paper.  Tillie up at 9.30.
Had pancakes for lunch.  Sunny and nice out 61° at 2.00.
Read and watched T.V.  Laid some stones in walk by fireplace.  T.V. in Evening.  Tillie is making another lint plate.
46° at 10.00 P.M.

Up at 9.00.  It was 60° in the house.  It was 48° outside at 9.00.
Read paper after breakfast.  Tillie up at 9.45.  I finished the walk by 1.00 today and it looks good.  Sunny and a northwest breeze about 15 miles an hour.  Sunny all day.  Wrote to Dick in afternoon.  The Collangis and Mollineaux came here and we played canasta.  The men won.
Tillie roasted some coffee today and we had it in Eve. But we didn’t like the taste.  Had a very pleasant Evening.
They left at 12.05.  48°

Up at 8.30 and turned heat on and got breakfast then read paper.
Washington had 7” of snow this morning and is in a mess.  We watched T.V. to see the inauguration.  Sun is shining.  It is only 52° at 10.00 A.M.
Watched inauguration and parade until 5.00 P.M.  In afternoon laid some slabs in walk to back door.  Clear blue sky all day but cold.

Up at 7.00 and had my breakfast and read paper.  Cold this morning, so had heat on.
Read paper and at 9.00 the Ace Concrete Co. delivered 21 stones.  I laid 9 of them before noon.
After lunch we went after Hilda Linden and brought her to the house.
Had coffee and cookies, then talked while Tillie made dinner.
Watched T.V.  Had roast pork, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberries, apple sauce, salad, and afterwards had rice pudding and ice cream and coffee.  A glad of wine first before dinner.
Nice day.  Took Hilda home and was back at 10.15.  To bed at 11.00.

Up at 7.30 and had breakfast and read paper.  Tillie up at 9.30.  Sunny and cold this morning.
Dixie came in for a while, as she had some teeth extracted today and her face was sore.
After lunch we took a ride to Mays and then to Ace Cement Co and ordered some more cement slabs.
Then home.  Ed came in for an hour or so.
After supper we watched T.V.  Irrigated in Eve.
54° at 9 P.M.
Still a twinge, faint, once in a while.

Up at 7.30 and turned heat on.  Had breakfast and read paper.
Partly cloudy in morning.  Clouded up by noon.
Wrote to Carl and then watched T.V.  Still cool at noon.  and cloudy.
At 1.00 we left for Ida Halls and sat talking with her for a while, had a drink and dug up a lot of amaryllis bulbs.
Then went to Lees but only Barbara was home.
Then went to Hilda’s home, talked with her for a while, had coffee, then left for the “Ace Cement Co., but they were closed, so went home and had supper, watched T.V. and went to bed after hearing Eisenhower’s farewell speech.
Tillie got to bed at 11.45.  She had been sitting up, watching T.V. and working on her pineapple hot pads.  She is making colored ones now.  It takes 15 hours to make one.

Tillie up at 9.15 and had her orange juice and coffee, then read paper.
Sunny and nice & calm.  At noon we went for a swim.  Saw E (?) Johnson and her daughter Lillian and her two boys at the beach.  Water 75°.
Went to A&P this afternoon and shopped.
Stayed home in Eve. And watched T.V., Roasted peanuts and chestnuts.
To bed at 9.30 and read.  Tillie irrigated in Eve.

Went for a swim at noon, water 75° and calm, as we had a strong west wind.  Only down half an hour.  Air cool and 72°.  Home and coffee royal, then dinner.
Watched T.V. and read and wrote.

Up at 8.45 and had orange juice, apple, cheese & coffee.  Tillie up at 9.00.  Went to Laundry.  Sunny and windy, from the west.
Went for a swim.  Water 75°  Water calm.
Took in laundry.  Big gray rug washed.  Had lunch at 2.00. 
Worked on bookcase in afternoon.  Beautiful sunny day.
In Eve. Went to Collangis and played canasta with them and Mollineaux.  The women won.
Home at 12.15 and read Till 12.45.

Raining this morning, so stayed in bed till 10.00.  Had breakfast and worked on bookcase.  Rained hard.
Went to P.O. and bought stamp and then got some milk.
Home and pouring .90 of an inch fell.  Made frames for bookcase.
Ed came in about 5.00 and stayed till 7.00.  Tillie worked on hot pad.
Watched T.V. till 11.00, then to bed and read till 12.00 while Tillie irrigated. 
Cloudy and rainy all day.

Up at 8.30 and got oranges and coffee ready.  Read paper and worked in yard.  Started laying cement slabs from car port to back door.
Then it began to sprinkle.  After lunch laid more slabs.  Trimmed banyon tree.
Went shopping about 2.00 and then it poured for a few minutes.  Home at 3.00.
Tillie baked biscuits this afternoon.  Very good.
Stayed home in Eve and read.  Tillie worked on a pine needle hot pad.
Watched T.V. till 10.30 then went to bed and read.  Read till almost 3.00 in morning.  Still feel a twinge now and then if I happen to press my face.

Up at 8.30 and read paper after my orange juice and coffee.
Worked on front patio till about 2.00.  Had a nap afterwards.
Dixie came in and we had coffee together.  She gave us some smoked Kingfish, which was very good.
Cloudy and cool all day.  Sprinkling a little in afternoon.
Tillie made pancakes this noon.  Had hamburg for supper, their Tillie worked on the basket and watched T.V.  I watched till 8.30 then went to bed.
Wrote a couple of letters.

Up at 9.00 and got breakfast and read paper.  Tillie up at 9.50. 
I began laying cement slabs in front of yard.  Stopped for lunch at 2.00 worked till 5.00.  Took a shower and shaved.
Ed spent about four hours here.  They scraped the street this afternoon.  I was tired and went to bed at 8.45.  Still feel a slight twinge once in a while.

Up at 8.00 and got breakfast ready and read paper.  Raining hard out and has been for quite a while.  Watched T.V.  Wrote to the Leafs.  Tillie cleaning house.  Stopped raining about 10.30.  1” of rain so far.  Then it began raining and rained all afternoon.
We went to Publix and shopped.  Bea stopped in for a while in afternoon.  In Eve. Gus, Elizabeth & Mr. Holmes picked us up and took us to the meeting of R.B. Citizen Org. and Tillie and I joined.
Attended the meeting.  Mr. Fritchia Pres.  Mr. Holland V.Pr. Jeanie Wilcox secretary and Mrs. Downs Treasurer.
Had coffe and doughnuts afterwards.  37 people present.  Still raining.  1.5” by 10.00 P.M.

Up at 9.00 and got breakfast.  Read paper.  Tillie had coffee in bed and read paper.
I took Tillie’s picture in the dress she had on, on our anniversary and held the money bouquet.
Nice sunny day.  Went to the beach and had a swim.  Brought home a gallon of seawater for Collangis.
Had a nice swim.  Water 75° Air 72°
Had oatmeal for dinner.
Took the Emerson T.V. cabinet apart and getting it ready for shelves.
Had bacon sandwiches with salad and coffee in Eve.
Tillie made date and nut cookies this afternoon.
Watched T.V. in Eve.  Ed was in for an hour or so.
Wrote to Helen and Bettenhousen.
Cloudy and cool in afternoon and Evening.
Just a few slight twinges in my head today.

UP at 8.45 and got oranges and coffee ready.  Read paper and went to Laundry.  Home and hung it up. 
Sunny and nice washed gray rug.
Went for a swim and water 74° 2.00 at the beach.
Home and oatmeal for lunch.  Then fixed antenna, so now we get 4.  After supper we went after Collangis and we all went to Mallineaux and looked over his new house.  It’s the best house I’ve seen.
Then we played canasta.  Had coffee, Ice cream and cake.  Sat and talked for a while.
Got home at 12.30.  Nice time.  Tillie irrigated.

Up at 7.45 and got breakfast ready.  Read paper, then finished letter to Nils Berg.  Tillie swept patio.
Rained .05 of an inch Early this morning.
Made shelves in utility room.
Went swimming at noon.
Went to Bank and put in Tillie’s check.
Tillie swept patio.
Partly cloudy most of day.
About 5.30 we went over to DeCiccos and had supper there.  Then watched T.V. and later Dixie showed pictures of Sharms wedding.
Went home at 9.40.  Jim and Dunge went bowling.
To bed at 11.30.

Up at 8.00 and had heat on.  Got breakfast ready then read paper.
Cloudy and cool with an East wind.  Around 11.00 we went to Ace Concrete Co on Military Trail and ordered 23 – 20”x20” slabs for our patio.  Then to Kwik Chek and done our shopping.  Home and lunch.
Went for a swim but it was too rough and my head was banged into the sandy bottom.  We only stayed in about 15 min.  Water 70° and air 69°.  Home and then went to the Bazzar and bought some stuff. 
Home and a fish supper.  Watched. T.V.
Dot and Harold Larken came in and stayed for the Evening.  Mrs. Mallineaux stopped in for a few minutes to tell us it’s Sat. Eve. For canasta, instead of Friday.
We had coffee and crackers, then watched Groucho Marx.
To bed at 11.30.
Tillie irrigated.

Up at 8.45 and it was 60° in the house so turned heat on.  Tillie up at 9.20 and irrigated.  Read paper and then wrote.
After we got our check, we went to bank and paid on mortgage and bought oranges.
Went to see Hilda and brought her oranges then went to Wrightsmans and gave the check to Edith as it was made out wrong.  Then home and had a fish dinner.  Watched T.V. and Ed came in about 8.00 and stayed till 11.15.  Tillie went to bed at 10.00.
I’ve only felt slight stabs today and not severe.

Up at 8.15 and got oranges and coffee ready.  Tillie up at 9.15.  Electricity was off one hour during night.  Sunny and cool.
Wrote to Lin.
Had lunch of hot tomato soup with Grape nut flakes in it.
At 2.00 we went down for a swim.  The temperature was about 72° and water was 72° not many in the water.  A cold west wind was blowing so the water was calm.  Got home at 3.00 and I finished Lins letter and Tillie wrote to Frank.  Clear and sunny all day.
Tillie went over to Sallys to call up Miss Eggert and she said to come over in the Evening.  So we went over to 258 15St W. and got our 3 boxes of slides.  Its her parents that live next door to Bettenhausers. 
I felt the shooting pain only twice today though I felt it slightly a couple times when I chewed.
We took a ride to Harrisons in Eve. And stayed their til after 10.00.  Met Mrs. Mansfield there, also her daughter and her husband and their two children.
Got home at 10.45 and went to bed after the news.
